PercussionArts
At
PercussionArts, we successfully employ completely new teaching methods.
Extensive DVD and CD documentation greatly enhances the learning outcomes. In particular,
students are more motivated to practice: if you can watch a DVD whilst practicing,
you can repeat a lesson in a simple and playful way, without forgetting anything.
You can also carefully observe the playing techniques that are such an essential
part of playing percussion. And it can be a lot of fun!
(The documentations are included in the fees. The actual DVD is available at a small
extra cost. Some of the DVD footage is specifically compiled for the individual
learner.)

Structure of a lesson
Rhythm and movement are at the beginning of every lesson and introduce the theory
and practice of rhythms in an accessible and playful way. Small percussion instruments
are also used to deepen and confirm the learning experience: of course, small percussion
instruments (bells, shakers etc.) are in themselves an essential part of percussion
and an integral accompaniment to drums – as important as the plate is to food.
Then you learn traditional and modern rhythms on the drums: from the fundamentals
of technique, accompaniment, variations and decorations to the heights of individual
soloing. In addition, we regularly arrange musical meetings where you can implement
and experience the new skills in a group context. The resulting magic and joy of
life is not just testimony to the power of rhythms flowing together, but also an
expression of the social character of these ancient cultures.
30 min. lessons
30 min. lessons are suitable for people with smaller budgets or alternatively for
the very fast learners who are committed to plenty of regular practice. You can
quickly receive the notations and instructions and then practice them daily for
at least 30 minutes – if you manage to practice one hour or more, you can achieve
a lot in a short time.
45 min. lessons
A 45 minutes session allows you to work much more with the material – however, you
should be prepared to at least practice 30 minutes per day.
60 min. lessons
60 minutes are great to really get your teeth into the new material and deepen your
knowledge – of course, you still need to practice daily.
90 min. lessons
90 minutes allow you to properly immerse yourself in the new material, and homework
can be limited to 10 minutes per day (there is no time limit, of course, and practice
makes perfect!).
